About the Faire

The Louisiana Renaissance Festival is a mini-theme park that uses the European Renaissance as a jumping off point for popular entertainment, shopping, and education.  Many shows like the Joust and Falconry are entertaining and educational. With over fifty scheduled shows everyday you will be entertained with comedy, drama, and action. You can meet history in person including peasants, merchants, nobles, knights even Queen Elizabeth I, and an occasional village idiot. Holiday shopping is some of the most unique and interesting you will find in South Louisiana. Over 100 shops provide very unique gifts such as real swords, hand made candles, and even the glassblowing its demonstration pieces. Come early, spend the entire day having a fun adventure with us.

A mini-Vacation in South East Louisiana this November.  Adventure and excitement close to New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Slidell, and the MS Gulf Coast.  Mini-Vacations like the Ren-Fest are often called cute names like Day-cation, because you can get a vacation to fit in one day, or "Stay-cation," because you actually stay at home while on vacation.  Enjoy your "Stay/day-Cation," without: airfare, hotel, rental car, or missing any work.   Try a weekend vacation at Louisiana's Ren-Fest: its a quality vacation you can afford.  Click on purple menu above to learn more about the various adventures you can explore at the "Ren-Fest."  The great variety of shows has plenty of excitement for the individual, and for the family.

We are often asked if "dressing up" is required. The answer is No; Most people wear their normal "everyday" clothes; we do recommend comfortable walking shoes. Since we open less than a week after Halloween you and your kids can wear their halloween costumes if you want to get a little more value out of the costume. Or you can rent a costume for the day, one of the many merchants at the ren-fest is a costume rental merchant. Its a lot like wearing mickey mouse ears at Disney land, most people don't, but while in the magical kingdom its ok to wear them.

Wearing comfortable walking shoes is the most important clothing option.

TESTIMONIAL email

I wanted to share the experience I had this past weekend while attending the Louisiana Renaissance Festival. This was my family's first time attending your festival and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were serenaded by a charming man with a long red beard (I didn't get his name), we loved the action and excitement of the joust, and we were greeted everywhere by people dressed in period cloths. However, the highlight of the day was watching your show about a baby dragon and a fairy princess. The show itself was delightful and very funny, but it was the chance to meet the dragon at the end of the show which is the reason why I'm writing this email. My 9 year old son, is autistic and has never spoken to anyone outside the family. I was in tears as I watched him interacting with the dragon. The dragon asked my son what his name was, and to my surprise he told him! The dragon asked my son if he likes chocolate and he told the dragon he loves chocolate and he wishes he had some to share with the dragon, the dragon gave him a high five and he hugged the dragon goodbye. My son has an aversion to physical contact and has never willing touched anyone before. Since then he has not stopped asking about his new friend the baby dragon. I want to bring him back to see the dragon again and was surprised to see the show was not listed on any further weekends. Will you be performing the show again this year? I don't know if you realize how much of a breakthrough this has been for not only my son, but for our whole family! I can't thank you enough for providing this type of entertainment!
